Schoolhouse Rock and Fun

On Saturday, September 14 at 6:00pm, Summit Coffee in Davidson is sponsoring
a 10K and Fun Run Race called the “Schoolhouse Rock and Run.”   Come out and have fun for a good cause!

E2D works with the Ada Jenkins center, Davidson
College, CMS officials and Town of Davidson and Cornelius leadership to
provide a solution for families in our community that do not have technology
(computers & internet accessibility) in their own homes. The organization’s goal is to see
the digital divide closed in our community and to help close the achievement
gap for those that are economically disadvantaged.

Calling All Rising Kindergarten Families!

Summer is almost over, and we are excited about the upcoming school year. The PTO has added a few events this year for our rising Kindergartners. We would like for all of our 2012-2013 Kindergarten families to attend and for our kindergarten graduate families to lend a hand.

Popsicles on the Playground

Thursday, August 22

4:00 to 5:00pm

on the playground in the front of the school

This is a chance for our rising Kindergartners and their families to have popsicles, play, and meet new people. The PTO Executive Board will be there to answer questions, and we would love for our previous Kindergarten parents to be there and make the new families feel welcome.

The Kindergarten Cougar Breakfast (Boohoo Breakfast) for Kindergarten Parents

Friday, August 30th

8:15 to 9:45am

in the cafeteria

This is the first full day for all Kindergartners, and we all know that moms and dads have a little anxiety about this BIG day. We would like volunteers for this event. We will serve breakfast, tell them a little about the typical Kindergarten day, and simply try to ease the first day parent jitters.

If you would like to help with either of these events, please email Allison Labovitz at alabovitz3@gmail.com

Teacher Assistant Jobs in Jeopardy!

Now more than ever, the POWER OF THE PEN (and computer) needs to be put into action.  The fate of our fabulous teacher assistants is in jeopardy.  The North Carolina state budget proposal cuts funding for teacher assistants except for Kindergarten and 1st Grade.

We need as many parents as possible need to write the following individuals to let our opinions be known and make these NC leaders understand what an important resource our teacher assistants are to our schools.

For your convenience, here is a sample letter with more information, but feel free to make your own.  Also, here is a link to a petition a local PTA already started.  Thank you for taking the time to be an advocate for our children and their education!
