Our S’more spring book fair begins on Monday, March 13! We hope your students are getting excited. Students will be visiting the book fair with their classes to preview books on Monday and Tuesday, then return Wednesday-Friday to make purchases. Your teacher will provide you with preview and purchase dates. Parents, grandparents and special friends are invited to attend at any time during the week! 

Book fair hours are:

Mon & Tues: 9:00am – 2pm

Wed-Fri: 8:15am – 1:30pm

SPECIAL HOURS: Thursday from 5-7:30pm during Cornelius Celebrates the Arts

If you are unable to attend and would like to purchase books online, our online book fair will be open March 10-24th! Books will be delivered directly to your child’s classroom. To browse online, please CLICK HERE.

Have you heard about “Pennies for Pages?”  We are doing something different this spring to help our classmates who may not otherwise be able to purchase books. If you would like to participate, please have your student bring the following each day. The classroom that collects the most money during “Pennies for Pages” will win a s’more party during April Power Time, as well as additional books for their teacher’s classroom.

Monday: Students bring pennies

Tuesday: Students bring nickels

Wednesday: Students bring dimes

Thursday: Students bring quarters

Friday: “Free for all!” Students bring whatever they would like to contribute.

There are still a few spots left! Do you have a talent you would like to show off to your fellow students at Cornelius? Sing, dance, play an instrument, perform magic tricks. If so, sign up for the 3rd annual Cornelius Celebrates the Arts talent show. It will be held on Thursday, March 16, from 5-6pm in the CES cafeteria. All talents must be submitted by March 1. We are only able to accept the first 30 who sign-up, so please contact Nicole Monacell at nmonacell@gmail.com today if you’re interested.

Join the Cornelius PTO on Thursday, March 9, from 7:30-9PM,  as we Cycle for CES! CycleBar Lake Norman is generously donating all proceeds from this event to the Cornelius PTO. Join us for a high energy 50 minute ride, followed by refreshments to celebrate! CycleBar will provide towels, cycling shoes and water bottles. Mr. Lewis will soon begin recorder instruction in music. Your child will need to bring a recorder for this class each week. If you have not already purchased a recorder for your child, you may do so through our PTO. Order forms were sent home in last Thursday’s  blue communications folders. Please complete the form and return it along with $6 cash or check made payable to Cornelius Elementary PTO. Recorders will only be ordered for students who pay in advance.
