Get Involved in the PTO

We are still looking for volunteers for each of our PTO Committees for the 2015-16 school year.  We invite anyone who would like to get more involved in the PTO, learn what happens behind the scenes and who can lend a hand at school or at home.  There are opportunities for everyone!  Please take a moment to read the Committee Descriptions and Volunteer Sign-Up Sheet by clicking the links below.  If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact Kelly Osborne at  We are incredibly grateful for all our volunteers and committee members and would love to have you, too!

Teacher Appreciation Week Begins Tomorrow

Teacher Appreciation Week kicks off tomorrow morning!  Tomorrow’s (Monday, 5/4) surprise for your teachers and assigned staff members is to bring a Monday Morning Memo – – have your student write a sweet note to their teacher and staff member telling why they’re so great.  There will be two bags in each classroom in the morning for each of the notes.
The rest of the week’s surprises are:
5/5 – Tuesday Treats (bring a sweet treat or piece of candy for teacher and staff member)
5/6 – Wednesday’s Wonderful Words (Create Acrostic Poems.  For each letter of their names, choose a word to describe your teacher/staff member.  Write it down and bring it in to school.  Example: Smart Mannerly Intelligent Terrific Honest (Smith)
5/7 – Thursday’s Terrific Teacher (gifts presented to teacher/staff member)
5/8 – Friday Flowers (Bring your teacher/staff member a flower.  Pick one from your yard or draw a picture of a flower.  Each teacher will have a vase in his/her room waiting.)
The PTO Hospitality Committee has arranged lunches for the teachers each day, as well as several breakfasts throughout the week.
Thanks for your help showing the teachers and staff at Cornelius Elementary how wonderful we think they are!

BOGO Scholastic Book Sale Tomorrow

Don’t forget to join us tomorrow (Thursday) evening from 5:00-7:00pm during the 4th/5th grade performance in the school cafeteria for our BOGO Scholastic Book Sale.  Yes, you read that right – – buy one book and get the second book FREE.  Stock up now and keep your student reading over the summer.  It’s a great opportunity for you and a great way to support the school.  See you there!

How are we doing?

The PTO is conducting a survey to get your opinions on our organization, involvement, volunteering, communications, etc.  We would love to get your thoughts!  Please take a moment to click through the following link and fill out the short survey.  It should only take a few minutes of your time.  We are looking to have all responses by May 15.  Thank you, in advance!  We look forward to getting your thoughts.
